The Common Admission Test (CAT) is conducted every year by Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for selecting students for their Business Administrative Program. CAT 2018 is the Computer Based Test (CBT) and very important exam to get admissions in top 20 IIMs and hundreds of other top MBA colleges in India.CAT 2018 will be the single day two session test and will be held on 25 Nov 2018. This year CAT exam will be conducted by IIM Calcutta. This is the first time during past six years that IIM Calcutta will be going to conduct CAT exam. CAT 2018 is the computer-based test (CBT) of 3 hours duration. It consists of 100 questions divided into three sections and will be conducted in more than 100 test cities. It will be conducted in two sessions ie. Morning and Afternoon session.

WHEN AND HOW TO APPLY FOR CAT 2018 EXAM?
Every year in the last week of July IIMs releases notification regarding CAT exam in every leading newspaper. You will also get a notification and all details about the CAT on website www.mbauniverse.com as soon as IIMs releases their CAT exam information.
In the first week of August, the CAT registration window will be open and it remains open till the last week of September. CAT 2018 registration form will be online only and there will be no CAT 2018 offline registration facility. You will need to apply for CAT online while completing your registration. In case of filling incorrect information in CAT 2018 online application form, not only the candidature of the candidate will be treated as invalid but the CAT registration fee will also be sacrificed. Application Fee for CAT Exam is Rs.1900/- for General category and Rs.1000/- for all Reserved category candidates.
CAT 2018 EXAM PATTERN
CAT 2018 exam will offer a choice of more than 50 management programs in 20 IIMs without any additional application fee for admission to academic session 2019-21. CAT 2018 is a computer-based exam of three hours duration including the total of 100 questions and divided into three sections as follows:-
- Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VARC)- Verbal Ability (VA) questions in CAT constitute 30% share in this section and the other 70% occupy Reading Comprehension. The total number of questions in this section is 34 and gets a time of 60 Min to attempt this section. Each correct answer has +3 marks and each wrong answer has –1 negative marking.
- Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR)- This section consists of the total 32 questions in which 16 questions from Data Interpretation and another 16 from Logical Reasoning. The marking process is same as the VARC section.
- Quantitative Ability (QA)- Quantitative Ability (QA) questions contribute 34% share in overall CAT exam. This section also has a time of 60 Min to attempt all 34 questions. Each correct answer has +3 marks and each wrong answer has –1 negative mark.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR CAT 2018
If you have one or more qualifications listed below then you can apply for CAT 2018. The education qualification is as follows:-
- Completed Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. The candidates belong to SC/ST or Differently Abled candidates need only 45% marks
- Completed professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA) with required percentage, or
- Should be in the final year of Bachelor’s Degree program with the required percentage.
For applying CAT, Important point is, there is no age limit prescribed to register and appearing in CAT exam. The candidates who fulfill any criteria listed above can apply for CAT exam.

CAT 2018 ADMIT CARD
Admit card for CAT 2018 exam will be released on 25 October 2018. This is the tentative date for the release of admit card. As candidates will not receive a hard copy of admit card by post, hence candidates should download a admit card for appearing CAT 2018 from CAT website www.mbauniverse.com
Admit card is a mandatory document for appearing CAT 2018. The CAT Exam 2018 Admit Card download facility will remain available till CAT 2018 exam date, i.e. November 25, 2018.
CAT 2018 RESULT
CAT result date is a very important date for candidates who attended the CAT exam. CAT 2018 result will be declared in the second week of January 2019. For CAT 2018 it is expected to be declared on 7 to 9 January 2019. Candidates will receive their percentile score through SMS service on the mobile number which has registered with IIM at registration time, but the candidates will get and download the detailed result on the official website of CAT as soon as the result is published. CAT 2018 score is valid until 31st December 2019 and subject to meeting the minimum eligibility marks in the qualifying examination.

- Same photograph as appears on Admit card to be affixed on the hard copy of CAT Admit Card
- CAT 2018 Admit card and one original photo ID proof required to carry during the exam
- Report 90 minutes prior at the CAT exam center
- Test system number applies only to identify the floor/wing and the seating place on the CAT exam day
IMPORTANT DON’TS
- No Jewelry allowed inside the exam room
- No shoes allowed inside the exam room
- Pen, Pencil, sharpener, watch, Mobile phones etc. are not allowed during the exam
- No break during the exam duration of 3 hours
- No documents except Admit card and photo ID allowed
