ABOUT AFCAT EXAM

The AFCAT exam (Air Force Common Admission Test) conducted by Indian Air Force twice in a year and invites applications for Flying Branch, Ground duty Technical and Non-Technical Branch and Meteorology Branch. This year AFCAT I exam has been already passed and aspirants who have missed the AFCAT I exam will have a second chance to join the Indian Air Force through AFCAT II exam 2018 which will be conducted by Indian Air Force very soon. AFCAT II exam will be held on 18 and 19 August 2018. The aspirants who will be applying for Flying Branch will have to give Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) along with AFCAT II exam. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR AFCAT 2 EXAM

The branch-wise eligibility criteria are as follows:-

  1. Flying Branch: Candidates those who have completed their graduation in any discipline with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or candidates who have completed BE/B.Tech. with minimum 60% marks.
  2. Ground Duty (Technical) – Candidates who have completed their graduation through any discipline with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level with minimum 60% marks.
  3. Ground Duty (Non-Technical) – Candidates must have graduation level degree through any discipline with minimum 60% marks and obtain 60% marks in Section A & B examination of Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India).



AGE LIMIT FOR AFCAT II EXAM

Flying Branch 20 to 24 years as on 01 January 2019(Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and Current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years i.e. born between 02 Jan 1993 to 01 Jan 1999 )
Technical Branch 20 to 26 years as on 01 January 2019
Non-Technical branch 20 to 26 years as on 01 January 2019

AFCAT II EXAM PATTERN AND SYLLABUS

The AFCAT exam question paper will have 100 questions. All questions will be of three marks each. For every correct answer the candidate will get three marks and for every wrong answer, one mark will be deducted under negative marking. The total time allotted for the paper is two hours.

Each Question Paper will have questions from the following topics:-

AFCAT II EXAM 2018 SELECTION PROCEDURE

The AFCAT exam is the first stage of the selection procedure. After clearing the exam, the candidates can get the date and selection centers for the interview and all other events as per their choice on the official website of Indian Air Force.

Interview:  The interview starts with a screening test on the first day, which consists of verbal, nonverbal tests and a PPDT test (Picture Perception and DiscussionTest). The selected candidates will stay back at the centers for further selection tests and those who could not qualify tests, would be free on the same day. The next day of the interview consists of a personal interview, Psychology and GTO tests, PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test; for flying branch only), on the last day conference will be conducted after which, the final result is announced. The selected candidates are sent for medical examination.

ADVERTISEMENT/REGISTRATION/EXAM SCHEDULE

Query 1. What is the advertisement schedule for AFCAT? When is the AFCAT conducted?

Reply: AFCAT is conducted twice a year (in the month of February and August). The advertisement for the same is published in the months of December and June respectively.

SCHEME AND SYLLABUS FOR AFCAT EXAM

Query 2. What is the scheme and syllabus for AFCAT exam?

Reply: AFCAT is an objective test. The exam is for two hours and consists of 100 questions.T he scheme of syllabus contains General Awareness, English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning & Military Aptitude. Query 3. Where can I register for the AFCAT online?

Reply: You have to register for AFCAT on the website https://careerindianairforce.cdac.in or https://afcat.cdac. in Please note that registration is being done through these two websites only. Do not register for AFCAT on any other website.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA- AGE/EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION/PHYSICAL STANDARDS ETC

Query 4. I have completed my Class XII exam. Am I eligible for AFCAT?

Reply: No. Minimum qualification required for AFCAT is graduation/ postgraduation (Masters) (depending on the branch you are applying for). There is also a minimum requirement of marks in graduation / post-graduation. For full details, you are requested to go through the notification available on website https://careerindianairforce.cdac.in or https://afcat.cdac.in.

Query 5. I am interested in applying for flying branch. I have filled up all the columns correctly to my knowledge. Yet, it is showing that I am not eligible for flying branch.

Reply: Please check the online form whether you had filled all columns properly. Check the age and educational qualification criteria. Also, check if you have 60% aggregate in graduation and 60% each in Physics and Maths at 10 + 2 level.

Query 6. I am meeting the age criteria as per the advertisement. However, when I am filling up the form online, it is showing an error indicating I am not eligible. Am I eligible or not?

Reply: Please read the advertisement carefully. If the age mentioned is 20 to 24 years it means that the candidate should be 20 to 24 years as on 01 Jan 2019. Check whether you meet the criteria or not. Ascertain your age eligibility and then fill the form.

AGE RELAXATION FOR COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE BY DGCA (INDIA)

Query 7. I have a Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India). Am I eligible for age relaxation for flying branch?

Reply: There is a certain age relaxation of two years for CPL (Commercial Pilot License) holders. However, one needs to meet the educational qualification criteria. Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years i.e. born between 02 January 1993 to 01 January 1999 (both dates inclusive). Also, note that the age relaxation is for holders of CPL issued by DGCA (India) only. CPL issued by any other body/country may not qualify you for age relaxation etc.

Query 8. Is the candidate eligible for TA or other allowance for appearing in the AFCAT?

Reply: No TA or any other allowance is paid for appearing in the AFCAT. Candidates have to make their own arrangements for reaching the exam center, accommodation etc.

Query 9:  Is permanent Commission offered for Flying Branch through AFCAT?

Reply:  No, only Short Service Commission is offered for Flying Branch through AFCAT.

WOMEN CANDIDATES-ELIGIBILITY

Query 10.        Whether women candidates are eligible to become officers through AFCAT?

Reply: Yes, women candidates are eligible to become officers through AFCAT. However, they are eligible only for Short Service Commission, and not for Permanent Commission.

NON RECEIPT OF PASSWORD AFTER REGISTRATION

Query 11. I have registered online on the website https://careerindianairforce.cdac.in for AFCAT. However, I have not received any password. What should I do?

Reply: The password is sent to the email address through which you have registered. If you do not receive your password, you may also use “Forgot Password Option” to receive a new password. However, candidates must note that they have to enter their email address correctly. An email address should be a valid one and in use.

CHANGE OF DATA

Query 12. I have entered the wrong DoB / entered ‘Male’ instead of ‘Female’ in the column of gender at the time of registration. How do I correct it?




Reply: Please ensure the correctness of personal details ie NAME, DoB, and GENDER before proceeding further as it cannot be changed or altered in any manner later on. In case the information is not accurate, do not submit the form. Please re-register using a different email id and provide correct details. Name and DOB entered in form must be as recorded in the matriculation/secondary examination certificate. Please note that information filled up by the candidates in the online application form will be considered final and no amendments will be allowed subsequently. Candidates should exercise due care while entering their date of birth.

UNABLE TO PROCEED TO NEXT PART

Query 13. I have filled all the columns, yet I am unable to proceed to the next part during filling up of the form.

Reply: You would have entered certain information which may not be in consonance with the eligibility criteria.

DEGREE OF FOREIGN UNIVERSITY

Query 14.        I have a degree from a foreign university. Am I eligible?

Reply: For being eligible for AFCAT, the degree must be recognized by UGC / AICTE / Ministry of HRD / DEC.

  1. i applied for afcat EKT. if i can attend two exams or one.i don’t know for this.in my admit card the date will be the exam on 19th.

    1. Yes, if you are applying for Flying Branch then you have to attend EKT exam compulsory which will be conducted on the Same day after the AFCAT aptitude test takes place. As you said you’re applied for AFCAT EKT and your exam is on 19th, you have to attend half an hour EKT exam soon after AFCAT exam on 19th. thanks for commenting us and Best of luck for your exam.
